Meet our staff, members of the local community who make everything that happens possible.
Robert Massie Funeral Home has always been family-owned and operated since its opening in 1906. Continuing that tradition, Rusty and Michelle Tapp purchased the funeral home and moved to San Angelo in January of 2018. The Tapps are excited to be involved in the San Angelo community and have made it their home.
Rusty Tapp grew up in Amarillo and graduated from Tascosa High School. After marrying Michelle in 1990, he attended the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service where he received his degree in 1991. He worked as a funeral director and embalmer in Lamesa and Dumas before settling in Pampa at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors for almost 25 years. He is a member of the Lions Clubs International and the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce.
Michelle also grew up in Amarillo, graduating from Amarillo High School. She received her bachelor's degree in English from West Texas A&M University. After teaching high school World History for several years, she became a stay-at-home mom and homeschooled their two daughters, Cayley and Camryn, through high school. Since moving to San Angelo, Michelle has become a CASA volunteer, and she enjoys attending Community Bible Study.
Rusty and Michelle both love worshiping and serving at The Vessel Church, and they also enjoy supporting and attending sports events at Angelo State University.
Gregor was born in Lubbock and grew up in Abilene. He graduated from Abilene High School and attended Abilene Christian University where he was a member of Sub T-16 social club. In 1993, he graduated from Dallas Institute of Funeral Service.
Gregor owns Texas Lonestar Monument Co., providing personalized custom headstones throughout Texas.
Gregor and his wife, Melissa, have five children; and 2 grandchildren. They love cooking out, traveling, and spending time with their family and friends.
Jackie Aguero was born and raised in San Angelo, TX and graduated from Central High School in 2003. Her love for caring and helping others led her to Howard College to begin her future in nursing, which she utilized for many years while working at Shannon. She then decided to bring that same compassion and apply it here at Robert Massie.
Jackie has four wonderful children, who keep her very busy, and a husband, Jeff. She is a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She enjoys arts and crafts, music, dancing, traveling, volunteering whenever she is called to do so, and spending time with friends and family.
Lonnie was born in Junction. He has been a resident of San Angelo since 1993. Lonnie has worked at Robert Massie Funeral Home since 2014. He is a proud father and grandfather. He enjoys hanging out with his children and grandchildren, watching sports, listening to music, and attending concerts.
Larry is a native of San Angelo. He graduated from Central High School and attended Angelo State University. He worked at Eisenbach Motors with his dad for 25 years. After the death of his father, Larry began working in the remodeling industry. He worked with his nephew at NorthStar Remodeling until retiring a few years ago. After retirement, he had more time for his passion of cattle raising. He enjoys raising and selling his cows and tending to the ranch northeast of Ballinger. With his extra time, Larry decided to join the Robert Massie team and share his compassion with those who are grieving.
Larry married Laura in 1977, and they raised 3 wonderful children. All three love the Lord and work in some type of church ministry. Larry has 9 grandchildren that he adores. Larry and Laura are long time active members of PaulAnn Church.
Truman Johnson is a retired pastor of 50 years. He and his wife Jan have 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Truman says, “I’m not really retired, I’m a professional PaPa!”
Truman began working at Robert Massie in 2021. He says, “It has been my privilege to serve alongside of those at Robert Massie Funeral Home. This gives me the opportunity to minister to those in need at the time of the passing of a loved one. Please know that we at Robert Massie will seek to meet your needs in every way possible. Thank you in advance for giving us that opportunity.”
